Improve the Patient Experience
While the patient intake process is generally automated through all HIS systems, the unique requirements for each patient are not. Typically registration into an HIS system will produce a standard registration form or ‘facesheet,’ but additional insurance, consent and information forms have to be manually selected, embossed or labeled and distributed to points of service.
The Access Patient Flow System (PFS) eliminates this time-consuming process and ensures that all necessary forms are automatically produced and personalized for each patient based upon the registration data entered into the HIS system. When the registrar completes the patient registration and submits it into the HIS system, PFS performs the following automatically:
- All required forms are selected and printed with patient data already merged and barcodes for auto-indexing, per customer defined business rules
- Patient consent forms are presented for secure electronic signature and automatically ported and auto-indexed into the document management application
- Any necessary wrist bands and labels are produced with barcodes for positive patient identification
- Patient forms are automatically routed and printed at any other hospital location needed prior to the patient’s arrival from registration
- Forms that do not need to be altered or annotated are not printed, but simply routed and auto-indexed into the patient’s EMR record in the document management system
This patient intake automation provides significant time savings, increased accuracy and patient safety and elevated patient satisfaction.
