Physician-Specific Forms

Give your Physicians What They Need
Although many physicians undertake the same procedures, each has his or her own requirements in how they are performed.  While this is understandable, it limits the ability of hospitals to standardize processes and increases the manual workload of editing and managing physician-specific forms such as order sets and preference cards.

By using the Access e-Forms Repository (EFR) and the intuitive form design capabilities of Access PFS, generic models of these documents are created and physician specifics are included at print time. Using the Physician Services module of the EFR, the attending or consulting physician is selected first, followed by the patient and the order set or procedure.  Both the physician and patient information are included on all forms.

As the physician’s identity is now known at print-time, physician-specific forms are added to generic order sets. Physician-specific preference cards are now maintained in the EFR and print in the Operating Room prep area. Tray pull lists are automatically generated in SPD while supply pick lists with bar codes are generated in central supply.

The correct trays, supplies and setup are now ensured for the physician, all with just one form request through Physician Services in the e-Forms Repository. Using the EFR to manage physician-specific forms minimizes delays and gives physicians and administrative staff more time to focus on key tasks.
